Our group’s project analyzes the work of musicians who convey their

thoughts regarding racism and racially charged issues through their work. Throughout history, Despite the progress made in regards to inter-race relations within recent history, unfair treatment is still prevalent in the modern era. More and more artists have chosen to speak out about this, and we chose to explore the meaning behind some of their music.

 

 

This playlist contains songs from eras spanning the turn of the century

to the present, featuring artists across different genres who have made commentary to expose and eradicate racism. Artists such as John Legend, En Vogue, and Beyonce each bring attention to the topic in a different way, but the intention/message of their songs is similar.
